Leadership

  • Be a Leader

Membership in a Greek organization provides numerous opportunities for you to be involved in leadership roles.  As a chapter officer, or coordinator of a chapter event or community service project, you can further develop your leadership skills.  Every fraternity and sorority has a committee structure that allows you to be involved in all operational aspects of the organization.  Chapters additionally provide educational programming in such areas as time management, leadership, and communication.  Greeks also participate in campus-wide leadership activities such as the Dynamic Leadership Institute.

You will be encouraged by your chapter to become involved in campus-wide activities.  Greek life is a great springboard to such campus involvement as the Student Government Association, special-interest clubs and organizations, Spirit Masters, intramural sports, and many others.  Striking a balance between academics and social activities is an important part of college life.  Involvement in both areas provides a well-rounded college experience, which is an appealing asset to potential employers.

    Dynamic Leadership Institute

Dynamic Leadership Institute (DLI) is a program sponsored by the Office of Leadership and Volunteerism.  While DLI is not exclusively for Greek members, a high percentage of Greeks take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their leadership skills.  The program is a semester long per phase, and usually meets 6-8 times per semester.  DLI is a program that is recommended to all Greeks because it helps develop and define young successful leaders.
