Greek Affairs Capital Campaign

  • In order to help WKU reach its goals for the future, A New Century of Spirit Campaign was announced on September 14, 2007. By 2012, private philanthropic investments will provide the means to affect profound attitudinal, intellectual, financial, and physical changes in the campus. A New Century of Spirit will focus on the people, places, and programs that exemplify the WKU spirit. We believe it is important for the Greek community to also play a role in its success. In order to leave a legacy for years to come, we have initiated the Greek Affairs Endowment Campaign. With a goal of $1,000,000, this fully funded endowment will initially generate $45,000 in annual income and provide for the following programming:

Proposed Greek Life Programs Annual Budget – $45,000

    Greek Leadership Symposium - $10,000
Every February, the Greek Affairs Office sponsors this one-day leadership conference for the undergraduate members. We will use this money to bring in professionals to train our members about the current leadership and social issues affecting fraternity and sorority life.

    New Member Symposium - $5,000
The curriculum for the New Member Symposium revolves around the membership expectations for our new fraternity and sorority members. Money for this program will allow us to bring in one national keynote speaker to educate our new members on fraternity and sorority life.

Greek Leadership Retreat for Council and Chapter Leaders - $7,000

We will have an off-campus leadership development retreat every January for the newly elected officers. Every four years, we will bring the North-American Interfraternity Conference’s IMPACT program that aims to bring fraternities and sororities back to their founding values and make positive changes to the local campus.

    Leadership Speaker Series - $8,000
Once a semester, Greek Affairs will sponsor a national leadership speaker on a major issue facing fraternity and sorority life. These programs would coincide with events like National Hazing Prevention Week and Alcohol Awareness Week.

National Greek Life Leadership Conferences - $7500

This money will be used to send students to national leadership conferences like the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute, Futures Quest, LeaderShape, Southeastern Interfraternity Conference, Southeastern Panhellenic Conference, and the NPHC National Conference.

    Chapter Scholarships - $7500

Each chapter will receive $250 to go towards travel and registration for their organization’s national conferences and leadership programs.
